The Riad

Behind a carved wooden door just off Talaa Kebira — the great artery of Fès el-Bali — Riad Sidrat opens into an Andalusian courtyard: hand-cut zellige, carved cedar, a fountain at its heart, and the scent of sandalwood and oud that greets every guest at the threshold.

Named for Sidrat, the holy tree of Paradise, it began as one husband's dream: to build his wife her own Andalusian Moroccan palace. Fassi artisans designed every last detail — history captured and celebrated in art, from courtyards and gardens to the top-floor terrace looking out over a thousand years of rooftops.

Mornings bring a homemade Moroccan breakfast served in the courtyard. Evenings end on the terrace, lanterns lit, with the oldest living medina in the world spread quietly below.
